Here is our Base Information on The Eastside Youth Network

PURPOSE

Provide a forum to support a collaborative approach to developing the young people
of GI and the surrounding suburbs, using the GI Visioning document as a guideline.

OBJECTIVES
  • Creating positive outcomes for and perceptions of young people in GI and the surrounding areas
  • Providing a forum where common youth needs can be expressed and identified
  • Identify, develop and promote joint youth projects and programmes (through action teams)
  • Providing an opportunity for networking and developing strong local relationships
  • Providing opportunity for shared learning and common workforce development
  • Enhancing the delivery of services for youth and whanau in GI
  • Facilitating youth initiated and youth led projects and initiatives
Core values are: partnership, shared vision, holistic health focus, and empowerment
of community, youth participation and leadership

STRATEGY
  • Monthly working group meetings to provide overall coordination and direction
  • More regular meetings of project teams (as necessary). This may include others that are not represented at the working group meeting
  • Feedback regularly to the GI Visioning Stakeholders quarterly meetings to ensure there is no unnecessary duplication of activity
  • Utilise other community forums, both formal and informal, to feedback to the community on our activities to ensure accountability
  • Formalised Evaluation/perception of community effectiveness
  • Internal evaluation amongst members how we are going in relation to aims and objectives
  • Recording achievements
  • Documenting our processes with good records
  • Providing member with the chance to lead specific clusters of youth within GI

MEMBERSHIP

A core group of people and organisations committed to exploring the process.

This is an open forum. However this core group will be necessary to provide leadership and consistency.

This should include at least 5 people with one person being identified as a Network Facilitator.

The role of the Eastside Youth Network members includes:
  • Attending meetings regularly
  • Participating on project teams if appropriate
  • Listening for community concern and feeding into working group discussion
  • Providing internal resource and commitment towards the work of collaborative activity where appropriate
  • Explore and enable access to additional funding and resources where necessary
  • Commitment to working towards a shared vision

The Eastside Youth Network members will provide:
  • Professional and operational expertise
  • Data, analysis of information/data
  • Guidance on methods and processes towards best practice
  • Problem-solving
  • Collegial support and role-modelling of good practices
